About this experience

Have you always wanted to try your hand at ceramics but throwing clay on a wheel or committing to a 3-hour workshop seemed like just a lot to chew? This is the class for you! The Works is welcoming ceramic artist Michelle Galluzzo to lead a short and sweet class where you will learn the earliest form of ceramics, the Pinch Pot technique! This technique has been used for centuries, dating back to ancient times. The idea is simple: you simply start with a ball of clay and pinch it into your desired shape and voila! Using this fun and basic technique you’ll be able to create a multitude of functional pieces. Will you create a tumbler, a small bowl, a ring dish, a mug, a planter, or something else? We’ll be using a sandy clay body that looks beautiful raw and glazed. Speaking of glazed, you’ll be able to choose from three colors for your finished piece: aqua, white, grey. Michelle will put your pieces in an offsite kiln to finish them and the pieces will be ready to pick up at the shop in about 3 weeks from the class date.
