You can pickle that! Join us to learn how to pickle all kinds of veggies (and fruits!) to add some tang, crunch, or even spice to your plate. We’ll review the history of pickling, the essential ingredients, and how to develop your own signature flavor. Then we’ll dive into the gear, covering everything you need to can at home, and give you a hands-on demo of the process - ending with that satisfying ‘pop’ when your jars successfully seal. You’ll finish this class with the confidence to pickle (and can just about anything!) at home!

Length

The video for this course is 46 minutes long, split across 4 modules. Participate live, or pause and work on the steps independently. Each of our digital classes equate to approximately 90 minutes of active hands-on time. 

Materials

If you want to follow along hands-on with the video, you'll need the following materials:

  • 12 pint mason jars 
  • Large pot 
  • Canning tools
  • Water
  • 3 cups vinegar 
  • 1/2 cup pickling salt 
  • 6 Tablespoons cane sugar 
  • A variety of produce for pickling, including carrots, onions, cauliflower, green beans, jalapeños, garlic (or whatever you prefer!)
