About this experience

Have you ever been curious about the anatomy of books? Want to create a unique and one of a kind journal, sketch pad, or notebook? Join us in class to learn about this ancient stabbing method and design and sew a unique book that's all your own! Choose from a variety of decorative papers available or bring your own paper with you to incorporate into your creation. 


In this 2 hour class you will learn:



  • Techniques for creating a custom cover

  • The tools needed to create a Japanese stab bound book

  • The basic stitch (and a variation) needed to sew your book 

  • Tips and tricks to create a professional looking book


You'll leave class with your hand sewn book along with the knowledge and skill to keep creating hand bound works of art!

In addition to teaching at The Works, Robin is an artist and designer. Since early on she has loved the tactical nature of paper. She finds joy in combining her design skills with paper art and bookbinding. She’s excited to share this medium with you!
